Our Vision
At Bernard Law Group, we have spent decades serving as tireless advocates for the people of Washington. We know that a safe community is built on a foundation of mutual respect and the protection of civil liberties.
As we witness a rise in antisemitic rhetoric and exclusionary behavior in the Pacific Northwest, we are taking a stand. We are proud to introduce the Advocacy & Inclusion Scholarship to support the next generation of Washingtonians who are committed to dismantling hate and ensuring that justice and safety are accessible to everyone, regardless of their background.
The Award
- Total Grant: $5,000
- Individual Scholarships: Two (2) Washington High School Seniors will be awarded $2,500 each to assist with their 2026-2027 higher education costs.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the 2026 award, applicants must meet the following:
- Location: Must be a current resident of Washington State.
- Academic Status: A graduating high school senior (Class of 2026) at a public, private, or charter school in Washington.
- GPA Requirement: Hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Higher Ed: Enrolled or accepted at an accredited college or university for the Fall 2026 semester.
The 2026 Essay Challenge
Please submit a 500 – 750 word essay addressing the following prompt:
“Advocacy as a Shield: Standing Against Antisemitism” With the troubling increase of antisemitism in both digital platforms and local community spaces, proactive leadership is more necessary than ever. As you prepare to enter the next phase of your education, how do you intend to use the power of community or legal advocacy to challenge antisemitic rhetoric and safeguard the civil rights of Jewish residents?
Please describe a specific initiative, educational project, or personal encounter where you acted as an advocate for inclusion. Explain why you believe that confronting antisemitism is a fundamental requirement for achieving true “Justice for All” in Washington.
Evaluation Rubric
- Core Alignment (30%): Does the student offer a thoughtful response to the specific issue of antisemitism?
- Leadership & Action (30%): Does the essay highlight tangible steps or creative initiatives for community change?
- Voice & Passion (20%): Is the student’s dedication to civil rights and community safety authentic?
- Composition (20%): Is the essay polished, professional, and persuasively argued?
