An accident involving a driver who ended up trapped from his rolled-over vehicle is under investigation. And according to the Washington State Patrol, anyone who may have been a witness to the incident should step up and let them know what they saw.
According to the official reports, the van involved in the crash was traveling in the southbound lane of Interstate 5 when the van changed lanes at about 4:45 in the morning. As it did so, it crashed into the rear of a semi-truck ahead. This caused the van to then crash into a barrier before it rolled over.

After the collision, the semi-truck driver failed to stop.
The driver of the van was rushed to the hospital after he was released from the vehicle where he remained in a stable condition. He may have suffered fractures to his arm and other unknown injuries. All southbound lanes of I-5 were unfortunately blocked as a result of the accident.
Witnesses that may have seen what happened prior to the accident or who may have any information regarding the semi-truck are being asked to step forward and contact the WSP.
We hope that the victim in this accident is recovering promptly and fully. We also hope that the WSP is able to learn more about this accident as it involved a driver who fled the scene of the collision.
Accidents like this happen all too often. Drivers should keep in mind that being involved in an accident is serious. Even if you’re not to blame, you should never flee the scene of the accident. Stay until authorities have arrived so they may get statements from all parties involved.
While this particular accident didn’t result in any deadly injuries, many similar collisions involving drivers who flee result in serious and sometimes even deadly injuries. We’re glad this isn’t the case. But we also urge drivers to make sure this type of collision is not happening to them.
