Two Major WA Crashes Result in Death & Injuries

The latest reports of crashes in Washington have been bringing people’s attention to certain risks. Since these accidents resulted in deaths, drivers are being urged to pay attention to the risks and make sure they learn more about the dangers.

The first of these major crashes occurred outside of Sunnyside. According to the Washington State Patrol, a 29-year-old woman from Yakima was behind the wheel of her car on the eastbound lanes of Van Belle Road. A pickup truck driven by a 23-year-old had stopped at the sign on Dekker Road but as the driver pulled forward and stopped to check the traffic, he saw an oncoming car. In order to avoid hitting the pickup truck, the 29-year-old woman swerved, causing the car to roll over. The driver died at the scene.

The second crash to be covered by a series of Washington news organizations took place in Bellingham and it resulted in injuries. According to the authorities, a 2006 Chevrolet Uplander minivan was at the end of the line of cars stopped on the eastbound side of Mount Baker Highway when a medium-duty commercial truck smashed into the rear of the van. The vehicle was not able to slow down or stop in time, crashing into the van and pushing it against a Cadillac Escalade. A 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier was also impacted.

As a result of the impact, three people, including an infant, were rushed to the hospital.

The traffic had slowed down to wait for a flagger at the head of the line, but the truck failed to notice the traffic slowing down.

While these two crashes were caused by different factors, drivers who are serious about their safety should learn more about them in order to make the right decision when operating their vehicles.

If you’re a driver and you want to remain safe, make sure to never ignore potential risks that could lead to major crashes. Distraction is one of them.
