You don’t see this often, but an accident involving a distracted driver was witnessed by a man who had just signed an anti-distracted driving pledge — believe it or not. It’s almost as if destiny wanted to show this driver in question that he had made the right decision.
According to a series of news reports, a 14-year-old from Minnesota was injured after he and his bicycle were hit by a driver who was distracted.
The 24-year-old driver was allegedly checking her phone while behind the wheel so she could type in an address into the phone’s GGPS system when she allowed her vehicle to crash into the bicycle rider.
As the young victim recovers, the witness who saw the entire incident taking place is speaking out. According to the local, he will never forget what he saw, especially because he saw the driver hit the bicycle rider without ever hitting the brakes. The driver, the witness says, wasn’t even looking up.
The witness says he took a pledge not to be distracted while behind the wheel just an hour before seeing this accident taking place. To him, this isn’t a coincidence. He believes that it’s now more important than ever to make sure all drivers are learning about the importance of focusing on the road ahead at all times.
As many will believe that this distracted driving accident isn’t all that important to bring up because no fatalities were reported, we urge you to keep in mind that many injuries result in consequences that last a lifetime and that victims will have to adapt as a result.
