Head-On Brush Prairie Accident Kills Three, Injures Two Children

A horrific traffic accident in Brush Prairie, Washington, claimed three lives on Friday afternoon, news outlets reported. And according to the officials who talked to reporters, at least one child lost her life.

The accident happened just before 4 p.m. on Friday, authorities said.

One vehicle was attempting to pass another car on SR-503 near 149th Street when it drove into oncoming traffic. As a result, it crashed into another vehicle head on. The powerful impact sent both vehicles to opposite sides of the roadway.

Officials were shocked at how violent the impact was, telling reporters that this type of “dynamic crash … isn’t something that normally happens.”

The crash killed both drivers, a 31-year-old woman from Brush Prairie and a 41-year-old woman from Battle Ground, as well as a 5-year-old girl. A 3-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy suffered serious injuries. Emergency personnel rushed the children to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities closed the highway for hours after the accident to investigate.

Avoid Reckless Driving To Prevent A Head-On Accident

There are many behaviors that can make car accidents more likely to occur. Reckless driving is one of them.

While officials are still investigating this accident, similar head-on collisions can happen when drivers attempt to pass other vehicles when it’s unsafe to do so. In other cases, they ignore traffic laws and attempt to pass slower cars when there is a solid yellow line on their side of the roadway. This behavior puts their lives as well as the lives of other drivers in grave danger.

Throughout the years we’ve served Washington car accident victims, we’ve seen firsthand the pain and heartache families experience after a deadly car accident.

Our hearts go out to the families of the victims in this tragic accident as we pray that the injured make a quick and full recovery.
