Alcohol is believed to have played a factor in an early-morning car accident that injured two men near White Swan, according to the Washington State Patrol.
All of the details of the car accident are not known, but police say a 1992 Pontiac Sunfire driven by 22-year-old Lonzell Lucei of Wapato, Wash., ran off the road, overturned, and ejected Lucei. The accident occurred around 2 a.m. at 2190 Signal Peak Road, a mile south of White Swan.
Lucei is in serious condition at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital, according to news reports.
Two other people in Lucei’s vehicle were injured in the car accident, including passenger Joseph Smiscon, 31, of White Swan and Elizabeth Benson, 26, of Toppenish. Smiscon is in fair condition at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital and Benson was treated and released from Toppenish Community Hospital.
None of the victims injured in the car accident were wearing their seatbelts, according to news reports. The car was a total loss.
As a Yakima car accident attorney, it is frustrating to hear about any car accident involving alcohol. I urge drivers to never drink and drive and to always wear their seatbelts. I wish everyone involved in this accident a speedy recovery. I hope they can learn from this tragic accident
