After Deadly Accident, Officials Choose To Not Criminally Charge Teen

A deadly accident involving an 18-year-old driver rocked Grant County, Washington. Now, reports show that the young driver won’t face any criminal charges over these deaths.

Officials say the teen was trying to pass two semi-trucks while on State Route 24 when the Honda Fit he was driving collided head-on with a PT Cruiser.

The 15-year-old passenger in his car died at the scene while one of the PT Cruiser’s occupants died 11 days later at the hospital. The victim’s wife suffered injuries but is currently in a satisfactory condition.

Officials say that while this was a tragic accident, it did not warrant criminal charges. Instead, the driver only got a citation for unsafe passing.

This is a tragic example of how important it is for drivers to remain in their lane even if they think they can pass safely.

As personal injury attorneys we see similar accidents taking place regularly. We also help many of these victims navigate trough the legal process so they may obtain the justice that they need. Unfortunately, many of those who suffer serious injuries in similar accidents think they shouldn’t seek the help of an attorney. Even if they have a hard time dealing with insurance companies.

Avoid Risky Driving Behaviors To Prevent A Head-On Accident

If you’re serious about your safety and the safety of your loved ones, you know that certain activities while behind the wheel are more likely to put you in danger.

Distracted and drowsy driving are two of the activities that may increase the risk of a head-on collision as drivers are more likely to allow their vehicle to veer away from its lane when they fall asleep at the wheel or when they are distracted. But there are other risky behaviors as well.

If you want to prevent a head-on collision, be a defensive driver who understands that following the law is non-negotiable.
