Fiat Recalls Thousands Of Jeep, Ram, Dodge, And Other Brands

The latest major auto recall involves several auto brands, and they include Jeep, Ram, Fiat, Dodge, and Chrysler vehicles, between the 2017 through the 2019 model years.

Fiat Chrysler announced the recall this week, explaining that units come with faulty powertrain controllers. Because they may prevent the vehicles from starting, problems such as unexpected stalling or stalling immediately after the car starts may occur.

The firm said that while there’s a risk of stalling while the vehicle is in use, the issue is more likely to cause the engine to stall immediately after starting.

Stalling may occur because a voltage regulator chip on the circuit board may fail to function correctly, leading to engine issues.

So far, Fiat said, consumers have not reported any incidents or issues with the vehicles. Still, drivers with cars that could be in danger should stay alert.

Models that could experience stalling issues include: 2018 Chrysler 300 sedans, 2018 and 2019 Chrysler Pacifica minivans, 2018 Dodge Challenger coupes, 2018 Dodge Charger sedans, 2018 Dodge Durango SUVs, 2017 and 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan minivans, 2018 Dodge Journey SUVs, 2018 Fiat 500x SUVs, 2018 and 2019 Jeep Cherokee SUVs, 2018 Jeep Compass SUVs, 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs, 2018 Jeep Renegade SUVs, 2017 and 2018 Jeep Wrangler SUVs, 2018 Ram 1500 pickup trucks, and 2018 Ram Promaster vans.

Own One Of The Vehicles Listed Under This Recall? Here’s What To Do

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration announced that dealers will replace all powertrain control modules for free.

While the firm will start to contact owners after Sept. 28, you may reach out to Fiat Chrysler directly to ask any further questions. The NHTSA encourages you to contact the firm directly if you fear for your safety.

It is important to report incidents to the NHTSA and the firm if you own one of the vehicles named in this recall and you experience an unexpected engine stall or the engine won’t start.
