Injury, Fire Concerns Associated with Ford, GM Recalls

Two major automakers have recently announced recall campaigns associated with issues that could lead to injuries.

The first manufacturer to have launched a recall comes from Ford. According to the official announcement, all units of the 2013 through 2016 Ford Fusion, as well as the 2013 though 2015 Lincoln MKZ that were produced between between November 2, 2012 and July 31, 2014 have been impacted.

These vehicles come with seat belt pretensioners that may produce heat. If the anchor cable is exposed to this heat, it may fail in the event of a deployment. As a result, crashes that would otherwise result in no injuries may lead to major and even serious injuries.

Consumers with the recalled vehicles are being contacted in January of 2017. These vehicles will receive a protective coating that will keep the seat belt cable from failing. If you’re not contacted, do not hesitate in reaching out to the manufacturer for more help.

The second recall campaign some of our clients and readers may like to know about is associated with General Motors vehicles.

The manufacturer has reported that the 2010 through 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe Police Pursuit vehicles manufactured within the period between August 24, 2009 and December 1, 2013 that were equipped with police and government-related equipment may experience corrosion of certain under-hood cooling fan assembly components. If that’s the case and fluid intrusion leads to corrosion, an electrical short circuit may occur.

This could lead to a fire, which could then lead to crashes and injuries. The reason why the company launched the recall.

GM has yet to announce a notification schedule. Nevertheless, consumers with the recalled vehicles are being urged to avoid accidents by contacting the manufacturer.

If you own any of the recalled vehicles, do not let the recall go by unnoticed. Recalled vehicles that never get repaired are a menace to you and your family. Drivers who are serious about their safety should always be serious about keeping their cars well-maintained.
