Wrong-Way Crash Kills One, Injures Teen

One person died and another was seriously injured in a wrong-way car accident on Interstate 90 on Sunday, according to news reports.

The accident occurred on I-90 five miles west of Spokane when a 73-year-old man was driving his Lincoln Town Car the wrong direction on the freeway. The driver didn’t have his car’s headlights on and crashed into another vehicle driven by a 19-year-old.

The wrong-way driver died at the scene of the accident.

The 19-year-old woman was seriously injured in the crash. She is undergoing multiple surgeries at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle and in intensive care, according to news reports.

It is unclear exactly why the man was driving the wrong direction on the freeway. Investigators are working to determine all the factors in the crash.
