Two people died in a car accident on U.S. 12 west of Clarkston, Wash., on Friday night, according to news reports.
The fatal car accident occurred around 9 p.m. when a 20-year-old driver was heading east in a 1979 Jeep when he attempted to pass a vehicle near mile post 429, near the Idaho border. As he drove into the westbound lane, he crashed head-on with a Mercury Marquis driven by a 49-year-old woman.
Both drivers were transported to St. Joseph Regional Medical center, but were pronounced dead shortly after, according to news reports.
A 30-year-old passenger in the jeep was also transported to St. Joseph Regional Medical center, where he was treated and released.
All of the victims in the crash were wearing their seat belt, according to the Washington State Patrol.
