Truck Driver Hit by Fruit Bins in Serious Condition

A truck driver is in serious condition after being hit by a loaded fruit bin that fell from his truck trailer Tuesday night near Yakima, according to news reports.

The 59-year-old man was unstrapping the load of fruit on his truck at an E.W. Brandt and Sons warehouse on Ashue Road outside of Wapato. A forklift driver who was helping the truck driver unload the fruit was taking bins out of the trailer when one of the bins on the tines caught hold of another bin. The snagged bin then fell and hit the truck driver.

The state Department of Labor and Industries is investigating, according to news reports.
