Washington State Patrol troopers say that a 46-year-old tow-truck driver who had stopped to help a stranded motorist in a blizzard was killed Sunday evening when he was struck by a car in Snoqualmie Pass.

The driver was helping someone who became stuck in the snow on the right shoulder of the freeway. At that time, another driver apparently lost control and slid across the freeway where it struck the disabled vehicle and the tow truck operator.
