With the increase of travelers on the road during the summer months, car maintenance and safety is at the top of my list as a Seattle car accident lawyer. I’ve written many articles about the importance of tire safety so you don’t run into any issues whether you’re on a cross-country road trip or a quick trip to the grocery store. In national news this week, a tire blowout was to blame for a car accident that left two young women with fatal injuries.
The group of friends was returning from a fun weekend at Disneyland when their tire unexpectedly blew out, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle which began to roll. They were traveling on I-10 near Tonopah when it happened. All the girls were transported to hospitals with critical injuries. What’s grabbing headlines though, is that one family was told their daughter was killed in the accident. They began making funeral arrangements and friends organized a car wash to raise funds for the ceremony.
However, almost a week later they received a phone call that there had been a mix-up and their daughter was actually in the hospital, alive. The family who thought they had been by their daughter’s side during her recovery, was told that she was actually dead. You can only imagine the emotional roller coaster that both these families have been through. The family of the deceased young woman is working hard to make sure a mix-up like this never happens again in the future.
