A Peninsula High School student was seriously injured when a pickup truck struck him while on his bike on Monday, according to news reports.
The accident occurred Monday night when he was “riding his bike up Soundview Drive when police say a pickup truck made a left turn in front of him. (The 17-year-old boy) slammed in the side of the truck,” according to news reports.
The star athlete from Gig Harbor was sustained life-threatening injuries in the collision. Doctors had to rill a small hole in his skull to relieve pressure on his swollen brain, according to news reports. He is reportedly stabilized, but being carefully monitored at a hospital.
Officers arrested the truck driver, who was possibly impaired at the time of the collision. So far, no charges have been made, according to news reports.
