A Kent man died in a car accident along Interstate 90 on Sunday afternoon, according to news reports.
The fatal crash occurred around 4:10 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-90 about 16 miles west of Ellensburg. The teenage driver reportedly left the roadway, lost control of the vehicle, then interstate back onto the interstate.
The 19-year-old passenger, who was wearing their seatbelt, was not injured in the crash. The 40-year-old passenger was not wearing his seatbelt, and had to be transported to Harborview Medical Center, where he later died as a result of his injuries. Another 38-year-old passenger with seatbelt on escaped harm.
It is unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision, according to the Washington State Patrol. The incident is being investigated.
The accident closed down the eastbound lane of I-90 until 7:30 p.m. Sunday, according to news reports.
