Multiple news reports have claimed that a motorcycle rider from Port Orchard was injured and hospitalized in a collision with another vehicle. The serious accident happened on Tuesday and it involved a vehicle that turned the wrong way.
According to the authorities, the Port Orchard motorcycle rider was headed west on Sedgwick Road when just before 11 p.m., a 2012 Jeep Patrior traveling the other way tried to turn the wrong way onto the eastbound Highway 16 ramp. Due to the maneuver, the vehicle crashed into the motorcycle head-on. The motorcycle rider ended up being thrown out of his bike after hitting a guardrail due to the initial impact.
The 22-year-old Jeep driver wasn’t injured but the 55-year-old motorcycle rider was injured and had to be sent to the hospital for treatment.
According to officials, intoxication may have been a factor.
For Washington drivers, it’s important to keep in mind that safety should always come first. Whether you’re a car or a motorcycle driver, not being intoxicated while behind the wheel is part of driving responsibly.
