Ford added over 270,000 vehicles to one of his latest recalls following a report of injury. Car owners who may own the impacted vehicles should not ignore this recall expansion as accidents already occurred.
According to the firm, the 2013 through 2016 Fusion midsize cars with 2.5-liter engines come with bushings that attache to the shifter cable to the transmission that could degrade. In this case, the cable could suddenly detach, and the driver may not be able to shift to Park. If this occurs and the car is in another gear, the driver may think he or she shifted to Park, when the truth is that the vehicle may roll away unexpectedly.
So far, Ford learned that one injury and three property damage incidents took place with the recalled vehicles. And unfortunately, the firm still doesn’t have a fix for this issue. Until it does, Ford car owners impacted by the recall should reach out to the company to learn more about it.
Ford Recall Expansion Has A Long History
The company launched a recall last year for 550,000 vehicles, including the 2013 through 2016 Fusions and 2013 and 2014 Escape SUVs for the same problem. However, the cause behind this issue was a different one.
While the company is still developing a fix, impacted vehicle owners will receive alerts in the mail when Ford can perform repairs and when parts are available.
