Chrysler, Mazda Add Millions to Takata Air Bag Recall

While many automakers launch recall campaigns associated with issues that may lead to crashes or injuries, few recalls are associated with issues that are as deadly as the ones tied to the latest Mazda campaigns.

According to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Mazda has launched two separate recall campaigns associated with Takata air bag inflators. Since these inflators, which are made of metal, may rupture mid-deployment, pieces of metal may strike vehicle occupants, and serious injuries may ensue. While the Japanese auto parts maker was pressured to launch a nationwide recall campaign, issues with a lack of replacement parts makes it difficult for automakers to recall all impacted vehicles across the board.

At least one of the last two auto recall campaigns launched by Mazda impacts drivers in Washington state. Nevertheless, consumers who have purchased or registered their vehicles elsewhere before moving the Evergreen State should contact the company if they believe their vehicle was impacted.

According to the official NHTSA report, recalled vehicles that were sold or registered in Washington include the 2004 Mazda RX-8 and MPV, as well as the 2003 and 2004 Mazda6 vehicles.

Since several injuries—and deaths—have been associated with this particular air bag issue, drivers are being urged to avoid ignoring this serious recall campaign.

Equipment failure that may lead to serious or even deadly injuries should always be addressed, otherwise, your safety and life may be at risk.

Another similar recall campaign that Washingtonians should not ignore is the latest Chrysler recall report, also associated with the Takata air bag inflators.

According to the official announcement, the company recalled all units of the 2005 through 2008 RAM 2500, 2006 through 2008 RAM 3500, 2007 and 2008 RAM 3500 Cab Chassis, the 2008 RAM 4500 and 5500 Cab Chassis, the 2008 Sterling 4500 and 5500 Cab Chassis, the 2004 through 2008 Dodge Durango, the 2007 and 2008 Chrysler Aspen, the 2007 and 2008 Jeep Wrangler, the 2008 Dodge Challenger, the 2005 through 2008 Dodge Magnum, the 2005 through 2008 Chrysler 300, the 2006 through 2008 Dodge Charger, the 2005 through 2008 Dodge Dakota, and the 2006 through 2008 Mitsubishi Raider vehicles.
