SR-161 Collision Injures 2 Near Graham

Media agencies reported that a collision involving two vehicles on State Route 161 near Graham injured two men Monday night.

According to the Washington State Patrol, a 57-year-old Graham man was traveling northbound on State Route 161 at approximately 8:15pm when he struck the rear of another vehicle. Troopers believe that the man, traveling at unknown speeds, struck the vehicle of a 39-year-old Graham man as the latter was attempting to make a left turn onto 237th Street East from the state route.

Both men sustained moderate injuries in the collision. The 57-year-old Graham man was transported by ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital for the treatment of injuries of injuries sustained in the accident. The 39-year-old Graham man was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center for the treatment of undisclosed injuries he suffered during the crash. No updates have been provided on their conditions.

Washington State Patrol Troopers stated that they suspect alcohol was a contributing factor in the accident and have since booked the elder Graham man into the Pierce County Jail on suspicion of vehicular assault. They are continuing their investigation into the accident.
