The computers sold for between $800 and $1500 at various locations nationwide. Many were purchased at Best Buy, Costco, Frys, Amazon.com, Sony Style stores and SonyStyle.com, as well as other electronic stores, between January 2010 and April 2010.

So far Sony has received 30 reports of these laptops overheating which resulted in deformed casings and keyboards. It’s a good thing that no personal injuries have been reported as of yet.

If you have one of these laptops you should visit Sony’s website at:

http://esupport.sony.com/US/f1cw2update

and they will give you instructions on how you can update your laptop’s BIOS firmware. This may sound tricky, but it’s not that bad. If you’d prefer you can also call Sony or visit Sony Style retails stores nationwide for help.

The firmware update is supposed to help keep the computer from overheating. As a Seattle personal injury lawyer I feel it’s important that you get this taken care of right away, before you, or a loved one, gets injured or before your computer is damaged.
