Snowmobiler Seriously Injured in Crash

A Washington man was seriously injured in a snowmobile crash near Salmon La Sac Sno-Park in Kittitas County on Saturday, according to news reports.

The 58-year-old man was riding a snowmobile down a steep mountainside at excess speeds when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree, according to the Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office. A rescue crew located the man in a remote area near Gallagher Lake just northeast of the park. He lost consciousness and had stopped breathing for a short time after the collision, according to emergency personnel.

He was airlifted to Kittitas County Hospital then transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he was in serious condition.

The man was wearing his helmet and protective gear at the time of the collision, but still suffered serious injuries. It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

As a Yakima car accident attorney I can only hope this man is able to recover from his injuries. Snowmobiling can be fun, but it is just as dangerous as any other motorized vehicle. It’s important to practice safe riding techniques while on a snowmobile, including not drinking and driving. As a Yakima car accident attorney, I urge snowmobilers to never drink and drive.
