A man died in a motorcycle accident Saturday on Interstate 90 near Safeco Field, according to news reports.

The fatal motorcycle accident occurred around 5:57 p.m. when a 24-year-old man was driving a motorcycle on the interstate. He reportedly attempted to make a lane change when he crashed into a concrete barrier on I-90.

The Silverdale man died at the scene of the accident, east of the ramp for 4th Avenue South, not far from Safeco Field, according to the Washington State Patrol.

A 12-year-old girl who was a passenger on the motorcycle was injured in the crash. She was transported to Harborview Medical Center with serious, but non life-threatening injuries, according to news reports.

It is unclear what caused the man to crash into the barrier.

The collision closed most eastbound lanes of the freeway while the scene was clear.

As a Seattle motorcycle accident, I’m saddened to hear about this fatal motorcycle crash. My condolences go out to these victims’ friends and families during this difficult time. I hope the little girl is able to experience a full and speedy recovery.
