One man sustained serious injuries when bricks fell on his head in Montreal, according to CTV.
The man was walking along the street Tuesday night when dozens of bricks began to fall from a building. He suffered severe head and bodily injuries.
City inspectors have launched an investigation into the structural failure, and firefighters set up a safety perimeter around the building.
This is just the latest in a string of people who have been recently injured by crumbling facades and building collapses in Montreal.
One man died in 2008 when the roof of a parking garage fell on his car. A year later, a woman died when a concrete slab fell from the side of a hotel and crashed through the roof of a restaurant. Last year, a chunk of brick siding fell from the side of a 26-story building and crashed through the roof of another building.
Coroner reports from the deaths have been highly critical of construction and lack of regular maintenance and inspections in Montreal.
This story shows the importance of regular inspections and having high safety standards for all buildings. Taking that extra time can make the difference between life and death in some cases.
