A man escaped serious injuries after jumping into the Puget Sound from a ferry in a staged incident, according to news reports.
The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday when a passenger aboard the ferry Wenatchee traveling from Seattle to Bainbridge Island.
“We believe that it was a staged stunt because it was filmed, a number of folks were tweeting about it and the individual went to the kayak and was taken aboard by another person that was clearly waiting for him,” according to news reports.
Investigators said the man did not appear injured. He has also not been arrested.
The U.S. Coast Guard and the Washington Patrol are investigating the incident. Jumping from a state ferry is illegal, according to news reports. The incident delayed the ferry run by approximately 15 minutes.
As a Seattle personal injury lawyer, I’m shocked to hear about this incident. I urge people to always follow safety rules in place in any kind of public transportation, including ferries. I’m glad to hear that this man was not injured.
