A 61-year-old California man was sentenced to a month of jail time and 80 hours of community service after it was revealed that he had disabled a safety device on a tractor that killed a vineyard worker.

An employee became pinned underneath the tractor overnight, and he suffered injuries that experts say would have been prevented if the kill switch had not been removed.

The manager of the vineyard also faces $200,000 in fines and restitution to the family.
