Yesterday, a food blogger spent an hour with officials from Kraft Foods discussing the urgency of taking artificial dyes, yellow #5 and #6, out of their foods. She petitioned on and got over 270,000 signatures. The dyes have been linked to hyperactivity in children and asthma, rashes, and migraines. The Kraft Foods Group associate director said the dyes are considered safe by the US Food and Drug Administration, along with the European Food Safety Authority. Kraft put a request on its website for individuals to inform them about alternatives for the dyes used in the cheese powder, according to news reports.
