News sources reported that an accident on Interstate 5 involving a passenger vehicle and a big rig seriously injured two people in Lynnwood Monday night.
According to reports from the Washington State Patrol, the accident occurred just before 6:30pm Monday night in the southbound traffic lanes of Interstate 5 near 164th Street Southwest. Both the passenger vehicle and big rig were traveling at freeway speeds in the southbound traffic lanes when, for unknown reasons, the driver of the Honda passenger vehicle lost control of their vehicle, resulting in the car becoming wedged underneath the big rig’s rear trailer wheels. The trailer proceeded to drag the Honda an additional 600 feet after becoming lodged underneath the trailer.
The Honda’s driver and passenger were transported by ambulance to a Seattle hospital for the treatment of serious injuries sustained during the accident. Initial reports indicated that one of the occupants was in critical condition after the crash.
Authorities closed all but the two outermost traffic lanes to facilitate their investigation and a cleanup effort. The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Washington State Patrol.
As an Everett car accident lawyer, I’m saddened by the news of this accident. In my time as a car accident lawyer, I’ve seen the effects of similar devastating accidents. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of this accident and I hope for their quick recovery so that they and their families may put this incident behind them.
