A high speed crash that killed two people occurred late Friday night in Bellingham, according to recent news sources.
The incident occurred on Mount Baker Highway at around 10:40 p.m.
The Washington State Patrol reported that a driver was operating his vehicle at high speeds and passing other cars erratically when he lost control. His car, a 1999 Ford Escape, transferred over the center of the highway and ran into a 20-year-old woman from Deming. She was driving a 2005 Kia Rio in the eastbound lane.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency response personnel. The state patrol reported that another woman, a 20-year-old from Bellingham, was a passenger in the 1999 Ford Escape and was injured, though the extent of her injuries was not reported.
As a car accident attorney in Bellingham, the news of these two fatalities is very saddening to me. My thoughts and prayers are with both of their families during this tragic time. I hope the young woman who was injured is able to fully recover. In my work as an auto accident attorney in Bellingham, I’ve seen how high speeds can contribute in crash situations. The chances of fatality and injury significantly increase as speeds crawl higher. Please watch how fast you are traveling on the road, for your own safety as well as for the safety of others.
