Health Condition May have Caused Truck Accident

A semi-truck driver died in an accident Tuesday on north Highway 97 near Lake Chelan, according to news reports.

The fatal accident occurred around 5 a.m. Tuesday when a 55-year-old man from Medical Lake was driving a semi-truck on the highway. His 2010 Kenworth tractor reportedly veered off the roadway and crashed in a field near Wells Dam. The collision occurred about 13 miles north of Chelan. The truck rolled to a stop in the field without crashing into any obstruction, according to news reports.

Emergency crews arrived at the scene but found the driver dead, according to the Washington State Patrol.

It is unclear what caused the driver to crash in the fatal accident. Investigators are working to determine that man’s cause of death. A previous medical condition is expected to have played a role in the accident.
