About two million gel fuel products are being recalled after the Consumer Product Safety Commission related the product with several dozen burn cases, according to news sources.

Nine different companies have sold the gel, which is used in firepots, an outdoor patio device. The pourable gel caused a number of burns on consumers who couldn’t tell if the flame had gone out. The gel is especially dangerous when overused.

According to the Commission, the gel starts flash fires that are hard to put out with water. Instead, a dry extinguisher is most effective. However, the Commission warns that the products should not be used at all, and consumers are instructed to contact the manufacturer in order to arrange a refund.
