The New England Compounding Center is not the only company in trouble because of the fungal meningitis outbreak that has sickened more than 600 people and killed 39.
Many patients are suing the facilities where they received their injections. Insight Imaging in Roanoke, Va., is facing lawsuits from at least 30 patients who have fungal meningitis from tainted steroids provided by NECC. They claim Insight, which administered the drugs, misled them to believe they were being provided the generic form of a Food and Drug Administration-approved drug when they were actually getting a compounded drug that had not been approved by the FDA.
