A driver was injured when his car slid off a slick, snowy hill in Tukwila and over an embankment onto Sound Transit Link light-rail tracks on Tuesday .
Tuesday’s late afternoon snowfall attributed to the crash, which occurred around 9 p.m. along Interstate 5 at S. 144th Street, according to news reports. The Tukwila Fire Department Battalion Chief said the driver lost control of his vehicle on the icy road, slid off the embankment and landed on its roof along the train tracks.
Thankfully, the driver only suffered from minor injuries.
The car accident caused a temporary delay in the light rail service. Sound Transit set up a bus bridge to ferry Light Rail riders between the Airport, Tukwila and Rainier Beach stations until service was back to normal, around 11 p.m.
As a Seattle car accident attorney, I’m glad the diver was able to escape serious injuries in the rollover car accident. Tuesday’s snow fall was lighter than expected, which preventing many more accidents like this from happening. By Wednesday morning, most of the snow turned to slush, allowing for safer road conditions. I still urge drivers to practice safe driving techniques during the winter weather.
