Desk and table lamps are being recalled because they pose a fire and shock risk to consumers.
CDX Group Inc., of Brooklyn N.Y., announced the recall Wednesday of 1,600 desk and table lamps from the wholesaler. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the lamps have substandard electrical wiring.
The lamps included in the recall were sold at CDX Group’s showroom, New Chens Discount, Concordia Trading Inc. and Grace Mini Market in Brooklyn, N.Y. and Dollar King in Lexington, Ky. from April 2010 through July 2010, according to news reports.
As a Seattle personal injury attorney, I’m glad to hear that this recall was issued before any reports of injury or fire were reported. I hope the company is able to fix this problem to ensure their lamps are not affected by this issue again. I urge consumers with this product to return it to the store of purchase for a full refund or stop using it. For more information, consumers can contact the company at 877-253-4599.
Pottery Barn recalled desk and table lamps last month because of similar shock and fire hazards. The electrical wire in those lamps were being pinched or severed in the lamp’s adjustable joint, posing the electric shock risk.
