The Washington State Patrol released statistics from 2012, and one of the more surprising finds was a 13 percent reduction in collisions from the previous year.

The Washington State Patrol stopped 54,684 drivers for speeding and issued 38,951 tickets. They also stopped 8,584 aggressive drivers and investigated 6,542 collisions.

Troopers did not more than handle criminal and traffic offenses. They also responded to more than 49,000 calls for service to move debris from the roadway, provide backup assistance and assist motorists.

In total, 114,443 drivers were stopped by Washington State Patrol officers in 2012.
