Drunk driving has resulted in another accident in Washington. This time around, the DUI crash involved a semi truck.
Thankfully, no injuries were reported.
The Bellingham accident resulted in one arrest.
Washington State Patrol troopers responded to the scene of the crash around 6:30 a.m. on Monday. They found the semi truck carrying a load of vegetables had overturned. The Interstate 5 accident blocked all lanes of the northbound road.
Troopers did not immediately know how the accident happened. The driver was impaired, however. According to a preliminary investigation.
Intoxicated drivers cause many accidents in Washington state. But that’s not just a problem here. The entire country is also seeing an increase in the number of DUI-related crashes. Even after many years of declining drunk driving accident rates.
Unfortunately, intoxicated driving is not the only issue we face on the road. Distracted driving and speeding are also putting countless Americans in danger. And much like intoxicated driving, both activities will slow down the driver’s response time. As a result, he or she is less likely to respond promptly to an emergency. That’s why drivers are much more likely to crash if they are distracted or speeding.
As personal injury attorneys, we feel it’s our duty to alert our readers and friends about this trend. This is why we want to remind you that drunk and distracted driving are both against the law.
Following traffic regulations and paying attention and heeding to speed limits can help you avoid accidents. Ignoring them can make collisions more likely. Whenever you plan to go out to have fun, remember to have a designated driver or a ride-sharing app available. Getting behind the wheel while intoxicated can lead to deadly consequences.
