According to recent news, two young men were fatally hit while riding their bicycles at nighttime, a third one was also hit but survived and allegedly sent to the hospital with injuries.
Reports from the Department of Public Safety have showed that the young men were wearing helmets and had the bicycle lights on. They were riding their bikes sometime after 7 p.m. when a motorist struck them while trying to pass another vehicle on a rural road.
The 32-year-old driver allegedly fled the scene but later came to his senses and turned himself in. According to the article, the 21-year-old unfortunately passed away after being rushed to the hospital while the 20-year-old rider died at the scene of the accident. The third cyclist, a 19-year-old, was released after being treated for minor injuries.
As a Seattle personal injury attorney, I’m deeply saddened by this tragic news. Bicycle and road safety are major priorities for my fellow personal injury lawyers and me. My heart is with the young men’s families.
Don’t hesitate to contact an experienced personal injury lawyer when you were the victim of a distracted driver. Keeping the road safe for others and yourself is everybody’s duty. Stay alert while driving.
