One man died in a single-vehicle crash Saturday on Highway 395 near Chewelah, Wash., according to news reports.
The fatal car accident occurred around 12:30 a.m. Saturday when a 39-year-old Spokane man was driving northbound in a Ford Expedition when he lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway, hit a driveway abutment and rolled, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle during the collision. He landed on the southbound shoulder of Highway 395, according to Washington State Patrol troopers. He died at the scene.
It is unclear what caused the man to lose control of his vehicle and if drugs, alcohol or distracted driving played a role in the collision. Investigators are working to determine the exact cause of the crash, according to news reports.
