We often report on auto accidents, especially those our readers and clients may learn from. One accident that happened just south of the Sea-Tac Airport is one of these cases.
The Washington State Patrol has announced that the accident involved a reckless driver and that, unfortunately, at least one person was seriously injured.
Officials say that the 25-year-old driver of a Subaru was driving recklessly while in the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 when she allowed her vehicle to crash into the rear of a van. Due to the impact, both vehicles ended up rolling just before they fell into a ditch off the side of the freeway. Officials say the Subaru driver was making hand gestures prior to the accident as well.
The Subaru driver wasn’t injured and was promptly taken into police custody after the accident. But the two people who were inside the van were trapped. Emergency crews had to extricate them and send them to the hospital.
After the two-vehicle accident, the road was semi-closed, causing a six-mile-long backup.
We hope the victims in this horrific accident are able to recover in full and we hope that other drivers are learning from this driver’s mistake.
Recently, the WSP reported that it was on the lookout for drivers who were engaging in erratic behavior. And as it turns out, they were on to something, as more accidents caused by this type of activity continue to be reported across the Evergreen state.
If you’re a driver in Washington and you want to avoid this type of accident and help roads to remain safe, you must act accordingly by driving responsibly, staying focused, and making sure that distractions are not a routine. You must also remember that following road rules will help you to avoid similar accidents and that driving erratically may lead to legal troubles, especially if you’re involved in an accident.
