Four or Two Wheels: Cars & Scooters Recalled Over Crash, Injury Risks

All too often, consumers are only made aware of auto recalls when it’s too late. That’s why we hope our reports on these recalls are helping our readers and clients.

The latest auto and motorcycle recalls to have been launched by the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration show that over 580,000 units of Mazda vehicles have been recalled over a possible injury risk.

The campaign was launched by Mazda after the company learned that the vehicles come with liftgate support struts that could corrode over time, increasing the risk of a possible strut break. If that occurs and the user is exposed to the falling liftgate, injuries may ensue.

While the issue still doesn’t have a fix, the company has announced that consumers with the recalled vehicles will be first contacted about the recall, then a second notice will be shipped once fixes are available.

Impacted vehicles include the 2010 through 2013 Mazda3 and Mazdaspeed3 vehicles manufactured between November 18, 2008 and June 8, 2013, the 2012 through 2015 Mazda5 vehicles manufactured between October 26, 2010 and June 22, 2015, the 2016 CX-3 vehicles manufactured between June 1, 2015 and December 26, 2015, and the 2013 through 2016 CX-5 vehicles manufactured between December 15, 2011 and December 26, 2015.

These units could expose consumers to injury risks, therefore, make sure to contact the firm if you have any questions or concerns associated with this recall.

Scooters Get Recalled Too

The second recall campaign to have been launched recently was also published by the NHTSA. And according to the official report, recalled units include the 2016-2017 go. scooters manufactured in the period between September 22, 2015 and May 13, 2016.

These vehicles come with front wheel bearings that could fail while the scooters are in use. Since this issue may affect the scooter’s handling, increasing the risk of a crash, consumers are urged to avoid ignoring the potential risks.

Chicago Scooter, the company behind this recall, says that recalled vehicles will be inspected for free and that the entire front wheel will be replaced. Also for free.

The company has noted that all impacted vehicle owners will be contacted this month.
