Car Seat Safety, Is Your Child Safe?

As a Seattle personal injury attorney I can’t stress enough how important it is that you use a child safety seat for your little one. However do you know how tall they should be before you switch to the regular seat? What about how old should they be? These are two very important questions that you should know the answer to.

In an article I was reading earlier today they suggest that you should continue to use a child safety seat if your child is under the age of 8 and under 4 feet 9 inches in height (in some states, like Massachusetts, its the law.) This might seem hard to believe, but safety devices in cars aren’t designed to protect our little ones.

You wouldn’t buy one pair of shoes and expect your child to wear them until they were 8 would you? Well a car seat is the same way. Your child grows fast, this you already know, but you should also buy them a new car seat as they grow out of their current one. Having a car seat that’s designed for their age, height, and weight will help protect them properly in the case you’re in a car accident.
